Wakefield Trinity Wildcats take Ben Cockayne on board - Rugby League

Wakefield Trinity Wildcats confirmed on Monday, October 10, that they had signed Ben Cockayne to a one-year deal.
The former Hull KR and Featherstone utility back, is famous for his crucial role in guiding Featherstone to the Championship Grand Final in a 40-4 win over Sheffield Eagles.
While speaking about his move to Wildcats, Featherstone’s player said, "I'm really looking forward to it. As long as I'm playing each weekend contributing for the team then I'll be happy."
Wildcats’ coach, Richard Agar, agreed that Cockayne is a quality player whose inclusion in the squad will bring a lot of character to Wildcats.
While speaking about the 28-year-old former Rover, the coach added, “[He will] bring a lot of energy, enthusiasm and commitment to the side. His versatility is certainly something that will be beneficial to us as we put the final pieces of the squad together
for next year and I'm certain he will be an important part of the team in 2012. We're all aware that Ben has had his off-field issues previously and this deal has been structured accordingly, but everyone is firmly focused on looking to the future and the
qualities he will bring to us on the field.”
Overall, the player has made 139 appearances for Rovers in his five years at the franchise before he had to face disciplinary issues.
While speaking about his new coach, the player agreed that the coach has made quite a statement with his latest uptakes. He further went on and said that the opportunity given by Wakefield is huge and it would grant him the desired path to move his way back
into Super League.
He also agreed that with this in hand the player foresees a bright future for himself.
When the prop was asked about his on-field position at his new club, he did not give any definitive answer because he had not spoken to his coach about the position as yet. However, the utility back shared that no matter what position he given, he would
ensure the quality of his work.
