Wakefield Wildcats’ coach John Kear motivating his players for big last game – Rugby League news
Wakefield Trinity Wildcats’ coach, John Kear is pushing his outfit for a “big last game” as the curtain on the Super League XVI season draws on Friday, September 9, against the Bradford Bulls.
This game is special not only because this is the final showdown of Super League season 2011 but also because this game is Kear’s last game as Wakefield coach and he wants his players to give their best shot.
Bringing his five-year term to an end is going to be nonetheless an emotional experience for the Wildcats’ coach, but he is satisfied with the work which has been done by him under his flagship.
While speaking about the recent happenings, Kear added, “From a personal point of view it’s quite emotional, it’s sad, but I feel very content as well and I know there’s a good legacy with regard to players and junior development at the club. Considering
the resources we have had I am also quite content with what has been achieved at first team level. I am proud of what we have achieved this year. We didn’t want to be remembered as the first coaching team not to win a Super League game and the players have
achieved a lot.”
According to Kear, the last entire year was very tough on Wildcats, but all Kear is hoping for is a splendid game to finish off his stint with Wildcats. Tonight’s game is very crucial for the Wakefield, if they manage to win this game, Wakefield will move
up the bottom of the league ladder.
While speaking about tonight’s game, Kear wants his team to “come up with a big last game for themselves as much as anyone else.”
Along with Kear, Matt Blaymire and Luke George are also departing from Wildcats by the end of this season. Amongst the departing players, Michael Korkidas, Jeremy Smith and Kevin Henderson will no longer be part of the Wildcats.
A lot is in store with Wakefield which also includes Richard Agar’s succession to Kear’s post as the head coach of Wildcats.
