Question:

Waking up with irrational fears/unusual thoughts?

Usually about once a night, possibly up to three times, I wake up freaking out about there being cockroaches in the bed, or about spiders being inside the pillowcases. I don't just wake up, I kind of shoot up out of bed and start pulling off the covers and turning on all the lights. It's not really getting any better or worse, and this has been going on for as long as I can remember.

Could there be something wrong with me, do I really need to worry? Could this get worse? Please, no just telling me to go to the doctor. I think I could figure that out for myself.

  1. just don't panic. tell yourself it's just your mind playing tricks on you...and try not to think about it. tell yourself there isn't anything there. and ignore it. good luck...i know how you feel. i did what i told you and the thoughts are going away. just remember it takes time. and face your fear of those bugs. that will help too.

  2. It sounds like you have some stress, anxiety and fears that are acting out through your waking moments. I know you don't want to see a doctor, but have you considered talking to a therapist? Sometimes it's a huge relief just to have an impartial person to discuss your concerns with. I see a therapist and it's a big help!

  3. Have you watched any horror movies lately with the bugs in it? Or is it one of your fears. If it gets worse i'd go see a counselor, maybe that would help.

  4. It's called anxiety. Not sure why it happens about the bugs..Haven't heard much about that, but....I'm sure it's anxiety. Try a sleeping pill. I know it doesn't sound great but it may help.
