I want to get a job at Wal-Mart. I'm about to turn in my app. I want to work now, but in 2 weeks I'm going to Chicago. If I start work this week do you think they would let me off for Chicago? I plan on working during the weekdays (5) and I'll be in Chicago that week during 4 of them. My friend said it shouldn't be a big deal. Do you think I should wait and turn in my app after I get back from Chicago? Or do you think they'll let me off? I hope so, I really want to start working now not after I get back.

  1. Just tell them right after they offer you the job, before they write the schedule

  2. you are fired lol it happened to me once

  3. Wal-Mart makes the schedules 3 weeks in advance. So I would suggest waiting until you get back from vacation.

Or, when/if you are interviewed, tell the SECOND person who interviews you that you need those days off. The first interview will be with a Dept. Mgr or a CSM (depending on what position you will be). They don't make the schedule. If you pass the first interview, the second will be with an Asst. Mgr, most likely your boss if you get hired. They make the schedules so tell them.

    Good luck!
