Question:

Wal-Mart is attempting to fire me for pouring ink out in the parking lot???

I work at Wal-Mart as a cart pusher and whenever I find liquids outside such as old milk, soda, gasoline and oil, I usually pour it out in the parking lot and dump the container. I have been doing this for a year and a half and NOBODY ever mentioned OR warned me that I was not allowed to do this until now. They took me into their office and they said I was getting a coaching and it could lead to termination. They didn't even correct me or explained why, they just straight up did this and sent me home.

Seriously, Wal-Mart has to be one of the worst companies I have worked for. They don't know to run a business! Instead of correcting their employees, they just say "F**K You, you're fired!" and that's it, and then they re-hire someone else.

Not only that but the management is very extremely rude. When they pulled me into their office, a total of 5 woman MANAGERS gathered in the office and raised their voices at me and made rude remarks. It almost seemed as they were trying to provoke me to do something.

But seriously, this company just wastes more time with paper work, sending me home, telling me to come back, having me fill out paperwork, having them fill out paperwork, and so on and so on when this whole MOTHER F**KING thing could have been resolved if they gave me some cleaning material and had me wash the ink off.

I am going to go in tomorrow and I am quitting. I don't want to get fired because that will look bad on my record.

  1. just to let you know, this is for answering questions it's not for taking out your anger. but yeah, wal mart does seem pretty stupid like that.

  2. In my opinion, milk and drink products would probably be ok. But I'd wince at the ink, too. Kids pick things up in parking lots... there's a possible few sets of clothes ruined right there.

Either way, I don't feel they should have ganged up on you like that. Like you said, they could have just handed you something to clean it up with and be done with it.

See if you can just talk to them and ask for a repremand. Don't blow your top over it.

  3. I agree with Goat, talk to them about this. I recently got written up twice in one day for the same incident at Wendy's: forgetting to pay for a cheeseburger because the manager was too busy when I was ready and forgetting to clock out for a 3 minute smoke while working a 7 hour shift. I was really mad, always have been for getting in trouble. But sometimes, it's not your fault which is why you need to talk to them about it. In my case, the manager, not the store, was being moody. Similarly, not all Wal-Marts are the same--

If you decide not to say anything because you think it isn't worth it, just keep looking for another job and quit when you get hired at that other job. Not now because then you won't have a pot to piz in. Good luck

ps. Why not throw out the containers with the liquid still in them??

  4. You can report your managers anonymously directly to Walmart.

Cart Pushers or Lot Attendants are never appreciated.

You were never taught the proper way so blame your management for not obeying the law that Walmart does not tolerate when lower level managers will-fully disobey.  They have so many lawsuits it is not funny.

As to how they treat their "associates"

    Do a Yahoo search: Sam's Club 6625+management.

Mr. Sam,Helen Walton, and Bud Walton would not be happy with what you have asked.

  5. I feel you should talk this over with them. Don't freak out. Be a reasonable person.

  6. it is AGAINST the law to dump oil or gasoline just about any place you choose... not to mention it is stupid to dump any liquid in a parking lot where your customers are walking or pushing carts or driving...

the only thing that makes Walmart even slightly stupid is that they have either knowingly or unknowingly allowed you to do this for over a year and a half without anyone saying anything to you...

just because anyone or everyone else does this doesn't matter... you are working for an employer... you have to follow their rules, even if they just told you now instead of a year and a half ago...

and what state do you live in?  because most states are "at-will" employment states, meaning you can quit whenever you want for whatever reason, and employers (non-union, of course) can fire you at any time for whatever reason they wish (except of course for reasons that would be discriminatory)... if they don't like the shoes you wear, they can fire you... there are no rules that say any employer has to discipline or coach you first or even give you a second chance...

honestly, with your attitude, I am surprised you are still working there after a year and a half... and that is not necessarily saying I am surprised walmart hasnt fired you yet... I am surprised as well that you haven't quit before now...

companies can hire and fire at will, meaning it's not against the law to hire and fire anybody they want, unless it is a union store...

don't try to make walmart look bad... any company you work for could do this to you if they choose...

PS it is still against the law to dump oil or gas anywhere, even in the bushes... that would be the stupidity of the manager you told to tell you it's okay, not Walmart in general...

  7. Common sense should tell you that you shouldn't pour milk or anything else in a parking lot.     And you also sound like you have an attitude problem.   Be thankful you have a job and do your best at it.   Are you in school?

Why would you even pour a can of coke in the parking lot?   Drink it or put it in the garbage.    AND coke is a far cry from milk that could sour or ink.    You need some maturing under your belt.

If you feel you were treated unfairly, then go ahead and quit.  But you better clean up your mouth or no one will want to hire you for the next job.
