Wal-mart goldfish living long?

Question

I've been attempting to keep goldfish for a while now, and it hasn't exactly worked out. At first I had two small fantails from Petsmart, which both died within a few weeks.

I was sick for a while and completely bed ridden, and my mom bought me a goldfish from Wal-Mart.

I thought, how nice, but it will probably die over night.

It lasted quite a while, so I thought I'd get it a friend, a small red oranda from Petsmart.

HA.

It got dropsy and died within a few weeks.

But the lil Wal-Mart fish is still tickin! He's VERY active. I'm just surprised that a fish from Wal-Mart outlasted Petsmart fish.

Just wondering about anyone else's thoughts or stories.

My mom had one from Walmart that lived for two years. It died unexpectedly.

right now i have a huge fish tank and i bought like 12 little gold fishes from wal mart and now THEIR HUGE!!! they look like carpes and they stayed alive for like 8 years. i bought them when i was like 5 years old. but its kind of hard when my biggest fish died i think it was too old. so i burried instead of throwing down the toiet or throw him in the trash can.

Never buy fish from wal-mart they always, always die and give your healthy fish whatever they had. I learned the hard way a couple times.

Sounds like you have a trooper. Well, it really depends on what you look for in a fish. If you make sure to get a really really healthy one then even from petsmart it will sirvive! Just remember! Bowl are torture to them and each goldfish needs 10 gallons!! I know, ppl thik they can ne kept in bowls!!!

Yea I had two goldfish from Wal-Mart that both lived for three years.

Goldfish the easiest/sturdiest ones as pets. Some may say guppies.

Goldfish only need food daily and fresh water changed weekly.

Is it named Goldy?

Other fish may need heated water and special expensive food.
