http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Theo-Walcott-c34873 was all praise for his side after their remarkable run in the Premier League, and believes that the Gunners have got the capability to deal with the high pressure situations that may enforce themselves on the club.
Despite the Gunners defeat against Queens Park http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rangers-c40314 on Saturday at the Loftus Road Stadium, the English International remained confident ahead of their Premier League match against Manchester City on Sunday.
The 23 year old had nothing but good things to say about his side for making a strong comeback in the season, after they got off to a slow start. The Gunners plummeted to the 17thspot in the opening stages of their league campaign, managing only
seven points from their first seven games.
However, Arsene Wenger’s side have recuperated well after their ordinary start, and went on a run of seven straight wins from 4th February to 24th March.
Walcott said in a statement issued on the club’s website, "I think that we can deal with pressure when it is thrown upon our shoulders. The manager always takes it on his back, but as players we can cope with that now because we had that tough period.”
He reflected on the Gunner’s injury woes, and pointed out that his side once lagged behind Tottenham Hotspur by ten points. However, he mentioned that the North London side have done remarkably well, to overcome the huge deficit over Spurs. Currently, Arsenal
are placed third in the league table and are tied on points with Tottenham, but the Gunners are ahead of the Spurs on the virtue of a better goal difference.
Despite the club’s topsy-turvy season, which saw them crash out of the Champions League, FA Cup and Carling Cup, Walcott maintained that the Gunners have been playing solid football for most of the season, but found it difficult to finish out the game on
a number of occasions. He pointed out that the club have got a good blend of experience and talent at their disposal, and remained hopeful that soon the Gunners will start winning the trophies again.
"I am as frustrated as the fans that we can't do it throughout the season"
"Every team has their bad period, we have been up and down at stages; we weren't playing particularly badly, we just weren't getting results and it is all about results.”
The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 forward also pointed out that the Emirates stadium is fast becoming a ‘fortress’ and believed that most of the clubs in the league have struggled to do well in the stadium.
Arsenal have lost only 2 games at the Emirates Stadium, losing 2-0 to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 early on in the season and were beaten 2-1 by Manchester United on 22ndJanuary.
