Wales' Alun-Wyn Jones wants international debut for Ospreys' team-mate Justin Tipuric
Ospreys' lock, Alun Wyn, has expressed his desire for an international debut for his team-mate Justin Tipuric for Wales in their upcoming 2011 Rugby World Cup (RWC) pre-World Cup preparation
games.
The Wales international lock, Jones, termed Tipuric as “something special”, while expressing his views on Tuesday, July 26. He added, “I know I'm biased because of the Ospreys connection, but
I've seen a lot of 'Tips' and he is definitely something special.”
Besides playing for the same club, both Jones and Tipuric are part of Warren Gatland’s reduced 35-man squad for Wales' 2011 RWC preparations. The duo is currently attending the Wales Rugby
Union’s last training camp at Spala, Poland.
Wales will play a couple of pre-World Cup warm up matches in August. They will play two games against England followed by a game against Argentina on August 20.
Alun Wyn praised Tipuric’s skills and abilities and expressed his desire to see him in the national colours. He said, “He's (Tipuric) got all the attributes and a rugby brain beyond his years.
He has a big future ahead of him and I can't wait to see him in a Wales shirt."
Tipuric is one of the two uncapped players left in Gatland’s shortened 2011 RWC training squad.
The young and talented flanker Tipuric has expressed his desire to wear the Wales Jersey. He added that he is working hard to earn a place in the senior side’s upcoming matches.
Commenting on his time in the training camps, Tipuric added, “It's special being here with Wales and I'm loving the training, but a cap would just top it all off."
Tipuric added that the training camp has provided him the opportunity to train, develop skills and play with the likes of Martyn Williams and Marty Holah. He added, “The whole back-row do everything
together, from all the fitness testing to when you get out on the training pitch, so it is extremely competitive.”
Warren Gatland is expected to announce his final 30–man squad for 2011 RWC after their two encounters against Martin Johnson’s English side.
