Wales Rugby Union shortens squad to 35 for second training camp in Poland - Rugby
According to reports, Wales Rugby Union has shortlisted a squad of 35 players for their second round training camp starting on Sunday, July 18 in the Polish city of Spala.
Head Coach, Warren Gatland, will lead the 35 players as they take part in the rest of Wales preparations for the 2011 Rugby World Cup. Gatland closely monitored the progress of the players during their first 10-day long training session. According to reports,
Ospreys’ Jonathan Thomas, Sale Sharks’ Andy Powell and Scarlets’ Richie Rees, have been left out from the shortened squad.
Additionally, Injured Ken Owens, Scarlets’ Lou Reed and Ospreys Andrew Bishop will not travel with the team to Poland for the second round. The training camp is believed to help increase the pace of recovery from respective injuries and will help the management
assess their fitness level.
Furthermore, fly half Stephen Jones and prop Gethin Jenkins will join the squad for their second training camp.
