Wales’ Shane Williams hints at delaying his retirement to play one last match at Millennium Stadium
Welsh international Rugby Union player, Shane Williams, has hinted at his plans to delay his retirement from international tests. Williams made these comments on Tuesday, October 18 after he was named in Wales’ starting xv for their upcoming 2011 Rugby World
Cup’s (RWC) bronze medal game against the Wallabies.
Earlier, it was expected that the Wales veteran backs player will announce his retirement at the end of Wales RWC campaign. However, on Tuesday, he expressed his desire to play one last game at home
Williams said, “Of course it would be fantastic to have the chance to bow out at the Millennium Stadium. Let's wait and see.” He confirmed that he wanted to hang up his boot during the Rugby Union’s premier tournament but unfortunately he cannot do so right
now.
Williams added, “The offer has been put there for me to play at a home match against Australia. I really do not know. I'd love to be able to play at home and have the chance to have my family and friends there.”
Wales will again host Wallabies in December during Wallabies European tour.
The 34-year-old utility back made his international debut for Wales in 2000 against France at Millennium Stadium. He so far has played 89 international tests for Both Wales and British & Irish Lions. He has also scored 290 points, which comprised of his
58 impressive tries.
Williams has played at both winger and scrum half positions. He started his rugby union career with Neath in 1998. During 2003, he joined Ospreys, where until now he has represented them on 126 games in both domestic and European competitions.  He has also
scored 276 points for Ospreys in these many years.
Swansea born Williams has hinted that he wants to retire from the game himself, besides making it the other way around. He said, “I've always said that I'd rather retire than be retired.” He added that it is time for him to hang his boots and he has planning
his retirement for some time now.
