Wales adds two recruits ahead of Saturday's double-header: Gillette Four Nations
Wales confirmed on Friday, November 4, that they are hoping to have Crusaders duo of Lloyd White and Peter Lupton as part of the squad which will take on New Zealand in the first match of the Gillette Four Nations’ double-header scheduled to take place on
Saturday, at Wembley.
Wales coach, Iestyn Harris, was left with only nine full-time players after a few players had sustained injuries during the warm-up clash of Wales against Ireland.
Expressing his thoughts, Welsh assistant coach Barry Eaton said, "They're having extensive treatment and hopefully they will pull through and play on Saturday. It's probably going to be a late call. They've done some small rehab training this week but they've
not trained fully with the squad yet. They are just niggling injuries, nothing serious, and hopefully they will be okay for this week. They will be important players for the team if they are fit."
Prior to this match, the Welsh side was completely crushed by England which wrapped up with a 42-4 win in last Saturday’s game. Wales’ performance was a complete humiliation which did not assist them in undoing their dwindling image.
The first half of the game was a complete disappointment where the squad had completely failed to score at all. Eventually the equation skewed towards England, who scored a total of 14 points, which remained unanswered, in the initial half of the clash.
The situation after the first half of the game was no different, nothing at all was done by the Welsh side to improve on the gap which continued widening.
Wales are considered outsiders in the series and also the underdogs amongst the remaining teams in contention. So far their performance has lived up to their image.
However, the recent inductions ahead of tomorrow’s showdown may not change a lot for them, unless they strive to tighten up their loop holes, which include defence issues majorly.
Their recent defeat spoke a lot about their dwindling defence which had catalysed their defeat last weekend against England.
Their opponents for tomorrow’s clash were also the runners’ up of the last weekend’s clash, who took against Australia, the strongest of them all.
Like Wales, Kiwis also wrapped up their first half of the game without any contribution from their side, but their situation was not as bad as Wales, because they had managed to close in the gap until either side was 4 points apart.
