Wales guns down Namibians by heavy margin of 81-7 in Rugby World Cup clash
Shane Williams’ hat-trick helped Wales complete a comprehensive victory of 81-7 over Namibia in Plymouth on September 26.
Wales scored 12 tries to achieve a gigantic total before the huge crowd with some great team work by the Welsh players. The Namibians could not make a good impression in the match as they struggled to control the pace of the game. Several errors kept the
squad from scoring on many occasions and gave way to their sorry total.
Namibia coach, Johan Diergaardt, decided to go with three changes to his starting XV for their final match of Rugby World Cup 2011. Collectively they have displayed a poor performance in the tournament and were hoping to end their rusty campaign in a better
way. Meanwhile, Wales coach, Warren Gatland, made huge changes in his team. He featured 11 changes to his starting line-up.
Namibia started the match in an expected poor fashion and gave away an easy chance to score a penalty goal to the Welsh side. Stephan Jones responded well to the very first opportunity and put his side on the board with an initial lead of 3-0. Scott Williams
scored his first try in the eight minute of the match and later on he converted it into a hat-trick. Although, the Welsh players could not put up a huge total before the interval but they had done well to keep their opponents scoreless. Wales led the match
by 22-0 at the end of the first-half.
The second-half of the match remained highly productive for the Welsh side as they scored nine tries in no time. Namibia scored just one try in the second-half and ended the game well behind Wales with 7-81.
