Wales wins by 28-13 to clinch second successive victory in RWC warm-up matches
Wales celebrated their second victory in the ongoing Rugby World Cup matches while defeating Argentina by a large difference of 28-13 on August 20, in Cardiff. The dominating Wales proved too strong for the Argentinean side despite the slow action on field.
Wales scored three tries in the match with some excellent work by James Hook and his boots. He added 13 individual points for his side with his well timed and accurately directed penalties and conversion goals.
Wales had outclassed the semi-finalists of 2007 Rugby World Cup in all aspects of the match to increase their winning streak to two matches before RWC 2011. Wales crushed England in their second warm-up match on August 13 by 19-9. Argentinean players could
help their side with just one try whereas Welsh notched three in the mean time. Argentina as provided with four penalties but they had availed 50% chances and let the slip others with feeble and inaccurate kicks.
Argentina had also displayed a meagre defence and revealed their loop holes on many occasions to their rivals. On the other hand, Wales displayed a much disciplined and improved show to carry the day.
The match was started in a slow pace and empty runs were seen by the both sides until the 28th minute of the game. Argentina had off the mark on a plenty goal with the help of their skipper Felipe Contepomi. However, they could not resist long
to maintain their slight lead over Wales as Andy Powell boosted his side with a splendid try during the 35th minute of the match. James Hook made it 7-3 while kicking the conversion shot into the goals of Argentina.
The last few minutes before the interval proved highly entertaining for a massive crowd of 72859 people. Wales accumulated quick point to their total and extended their lead to 14-3 at the end of first half.
Few replacements were made by the both sides in the start of second half. Hook scored on two more penalty goals for his team right after the break and put Wales in a comfortable position. Contepomi scored a second three pointer for his team during the 61st
minute of the match. At this point of the match the score sounding 20-6 for hosts Wales.
Next ten minutes were again pointless however the last few minutes had a lot to cheer for the crowd. George North scored third and last try for his side in the 71st minute of the second half. Replacement Martin Scelzo paid back in the same coin
for Argentina five minutes after.
 
James Hook gave the game final touch with a three pointer during the first minute of extra time and made 28-13 with the final whistle.
