Which is a better workout... to go out and walk nine holes without a caddy or go jog a couple miles? I know which one is way more fun, but i'm talkin trying to get a little exercise... Do you think that playing golf compares to taking a jog as far as exercise goes as long as you don't get a cart?

  1. If you need a cardio workout, jog.  But there is plenty of benefit in just walking the course.  It depends on your goals.

  2. Sometimes if I want more exercise, I play on weekday where the golf course quite, play alone 9 holes with a caddy... but I dont walk, I run.

The problems is, the score!!!! Will go very hhigh because I really tired.  But when do this, I dont care about the score.

  3. I am a little biased on this one, but I would have to say golf. The jogging would probably give you a better short term workout but the golf gives a more sustained workout. Four hours on the course is quite a bit even when you are in shape.

    I say walk the course.

  4. if it's a really hilly course then maybe the golf, but more than likely jogging would be better exercise

  5. I walk all the time.  Golf is great exercise when you carry your own bag.  If you walk fast you can get your heart rate up and then you have to work on getting it down before your shot.

I have a hard time playing only 9 holes though.  Feels like an incomplete round or I'm just getting warmed up.  So after 18 holes, I'm feeling it.

Then again, I've never really been a big fan of running for the sake of excercise.  I'd rather run playing a game or sport or whatever and in the process get the excercise.

  6. Jogging would be better becuase it is cardio exercise and you will be stronger in the legs and heart. My sugestion is to get a eliptical ( i have 1 and it works good) or get a tredmill.

    Just a few sugestions.
