Walk in Freezer keeps building ice on coil at certain place?

It started with fan on the WalkInFreezer not working. I had repair guy come and tell me that it is my defrost switch so he got the unit running by elemnating switch so the fan starts when compressor starts. I ordered a switch so he replaced the switch. Now I have to manually defrost the unit every couple of weeks as it is not defrosting correctly. I have had him change the defrost timer thinking it was issue with the defrost timer. No luck.

I noticed that the fan stays on all the times and the ice build up start near the area of the fan. I am not sure if the fan is supposed to turn off at anytime.

  1. 1-Yes the fan should turned off when the compressor is off .

2-Adjust thermostat to less figure (@ 3 instead of 5)

3-Prevent air leakage through door rubber gasket , to check that put a paper between the rubber gasket and door frame ,shut the door , then try to pull or move the paper along the frame , if it is easy pulled or moved ,you have leakage causing extra ice build up , correct or replace the rubber gasket

  2. Maybe the defrost heater or terminator needs replacing.
