Question:

Walk-in doctor services?

I have an ear infection and no local doctor, I keep getting told when trying to make an appointment with a doctor to try a walk-in center ... but what I'm looking for is the proper etiquette for a walk-in center, do I really just walk in, do I now call first?, will my insurance cover a walk-in, how long is a typical wait etc ...I just want to know if this is the right choice for me?

  1. You don't need an appointment, just walk in. You're insurance will either charge you for it as a specialist visit, or an emergency visit. Most insurances will cover most of the cost, but since I don't know the kind you have I can't say for sure. You'll probably have to pay a co-pay when you go in, so make sure you have a check or something.

The wait depends on how many people are there, I usually had to end up waiting in between 30 minutes to an hour and a half.

If you have an ear infection, go. Relief will come sooner if you go.
