The Adam-Bale controversy has been doing the rounds since Tottenham took on http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 over the weekend, in a pre-season friendly in Baltimore. The friendly game quickly became very unfriendly, after a careless tackle from Adam took out Bale and resulted
in him being substituted.
The Welshman left the game in crutches and had experienced ankle ligament damage. The player is no stranger to ankle injuries and his latest one rules him out for the start of the Premier League. The 23-year old winger was quick to share his views about
the incident and the tackle, and labelled Adam as a coward after the game.
The player was so upset by the incident that he went as far as to call it a calculated and deliberate attack. This is not the first time that both the players were involved in an incident such as this one. Last year, Bale and Adam had squared off in a Premier
League game while Adam was a Blackpool player. The Scottish midfielder was able to escape a Football Association charge for his reckless tackle on Bale, that had rule him out for quite some time.
The Tottenham winger is set to undergo surgery on his ankle and faces quite some time on the sidelines.
"My ankle is very, very sore. We'll have to wait and see how it goes. I'll probably need a scan," said Bale
"I was surprised to see a challenge like that in a friendly.”
Kyle Walker also had something to say about the whole incident. He said Charlie Adam is ‘jealous’ of his Tottenham teammate.
"The reason for it is simple - he is jealous as Gareth is such a good player," Walker told reporters.
"He did him at our place last year when he was sent off."
"It just keeps coming up that he doesn't really like him. Players shouldn't hate Gareth; they should appreciate playing against a player like him."
"They could actually learn from him, rather than kick him. He's a great player."
