Tottenham Hotspur defender http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Kyle-Walker-c21566 admits that the 5-2 derby defeat against Arsenal last week is still fresh in the memory of all the Tottenham players, and has suggested that a win tonight in the Europa League will be perfect to get over it.
Spurs were at the receiving end of a 5-2 thrashing last weekend at the Emirates after going a man down. Former Arsenal striker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Emmanuel-Adebayor-c12526 had scored the goal against his old club in the opening 10 minutes of the game, and Tottenham looked well in
control.
However, the player quickly went from hero to zero when he received a red card after a reckless tackle on http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Santi-Cazorla-c32505. Leaving his men short of a player, the striker clearly looked disappointed and distraught.
From there on, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lukas-Podolski-c22896 and Olivier Giroud added two more goals, and the Gunners ultimately scored 2 in the second half, making it another derby to remember.
Tottenham will be looking to get over the defeat, despite the optimism of manager Andre Villas-Boas, who was proud of his team’s ‘fighting’ performance and told them to keep their heads up.
Walker admits that the result ‘still hurts now’, but is confident that the team will be able to bounce back and recover their form. The fullback is now setting his sights on a victory tonight in the Europa League as Spurs visit http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lazio-c39775. A win
will surely help ease nerves and lessen the pressure on the players and the manager.
Speaking to the club’s official website, Walker said:
“You have ups and downs. For instance, I scored the winner against Arsenal last season. It’s football and you have to deal with it. I’m sure we’ll soon get through this difficult patch and be flying again.”
Tottenham badly need a result against Lazio tonight in order to progress through to the knock-out stages of the competition. Walker added:
“We need to bounce back from the result at the weekend and give something back to the fans. We’ll go to Lazio and try to get a result and qualify.”
“They are a good team and we saw that at White Hart Lane. We have to go there and player our game, and hope for the best.”
