Tottenham Hotspur defender http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gary-Neville-c14447 has had on his ability and game.
The English defender is expected to replace Liverpool’s http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Glen-Johnson-c15050, who is suspended for the Group H qualifying game against San Marino at Wembley.
Walker rose to prominence playing for Tottenham last season, and went on to win the PFA Young Player of the Year award. The attacking right-back also made his way into the PFA Team of the Year, and was one of last season’s biggest and brightest upcoming
players.
The player made his England debut 11 months ago against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Spain-c3011 in an international friendly, and was also expected to be called up by Roy Hodgson for the Euro 2012 tournament. However, a toe injury ruled out his chances of playing for the national team.
The injury also prevented Walker from featuring for Team Great Britain in the London Olympics back in July. The 22-year old was however assured by Roy Hodgson that he very much remained a part of his plans.
Then Englishman is expected to feature regularly for England’s World Cup qualifiers, and said that it will be a dream come true for him to earn a permanent place in the starting 11.
There has been much criticism regarding Walker’s defensive work, as the player is largely an attacking full-back. However, he has worked hard on that aspect of his game, and feels that former Manchester United defender Gary Neville has had a big hand in
his development.
Walker hailed Neville and is looking forward to working with him on a regular basis. He said:
"I'm young, I want to improve, I want to become the best I can be and Gary Neville is really helping me with that aim.”
"He a player I looked up to and watched often. He had a fantastic career. He gives me tips and coaches me through things. I'm excited to be working with him.”
