Tottenham Hotspur defender http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Kyle-Walker-c21566 is targeting a spot in Roy Hodgson’s starting 11 for England’s World Cup qualifier against San Marino.
The young right-back rose to prominence last season as he broke into the Spurs first team set up. The lightning fast defender consistently put in performance after performance, and became one of the many young talents England could look forward to.
The player won the PFA Young Player of the Year award, and also earned a spot in the PFA Team of the Year. Walker’s impressive run in with Tottenham led to his first ever international call up by England boss Roy Hodgson last season where he made a substitute
appearance in a friendly against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Spain-c3011.
The player made his first start for England last year in November in a match against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sweden-c3015. He was also expected to feature in the Euro 2012 tournament earlier this summer, but was ruled out on account of a toe injury, which also kept him from participating
in the London Olympics for team Great Britain.
The player is now targeting a permanent spot in the England national team. He is expected to replace Liverpool’s http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/San-Marino-c2998.
Speaking ahead of the game, Walker talked about his aspirations and targets, and said that it will be a dream come true to feature in the starting 11 for his country. He said:
“On a personal note it is a fantastic opportunity for me to get into the team. Hopefully on Friday I can show everyone what I can do and have a good game.”
"A first competitive start is what I've been waiting for, for a long time now. For my entire career, since I was seven, I've wanted to play for England, and put that jersey on.”
"I had a good last season, winning the PFA's Young Player of the Year award and a few more awards, but that's just the start and hopefully I can go on."
Walker is known for his attacking runs down the right flank, and despite doubts over the defensive aspect of his game, the player has worked hard to improve himself in all areas, and looks to be a bright prospect for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749.
