I have done a whole lot of research on chinchillas and I havent read nor heard if a chinchilla can be walked like a farrett and rabbit. I do know you can train them but I just wanted to know if anyone has or can walk a chinchilla.

  1. ive seen people walking cats, iguanas, and alot of weird things on leashes..

give it a try and find out

  2. I think chinchillas are more like hamsters right? or little squirrels.

  3. i don't but maybe u can start out by walking it around the house or if u have a porch that works too. just to test and see how well the chinchillas behavior is when being walked i suppose. and put it on a leash ofcourse :]]

  4. I think that there is a harness made for them, it's recomended that you don't use one on them.

Chinchillas are skittish and very delicate.

  5. No. Chinchillas are neither trainable or should be walked on a leash. They are way too fast, and if they got loose, you'd never be able to catch your pet again. They also chew on everything. This means the grass and plants outside, many of which are poisonous to chinchillas. They can't eat grass either, as their digestive system can't handle it. Another problem would be dogs. What if you came across a dog on your walk? What if it was an agressive dog? What if this dog decided to attack? Your chinchilla would be both traumatized and severely injured if a dog were to attack, and the chance of a dog killing a chinchilla is high. So no, you can not walk a chinchilla.
