Walking... Losing weight...?

Will walking briskly 1 mile in the morning every day help me lose weight? What can I do to really kick start my weight loss?

  1. to get started no soda drink a gallon of water a day spring or distill no tap water!! or crystal light for your meals.

    Breakfast eat 3 egg whites or oatmeal and a fruit.

    Lunch eat a grilled chicken breast vegetables with light oil 1 teaspoon  and a fruit.

    Dinner eat a tuna or chicken salad / grilled or broil chicken breast with Mrs. Dash on it and a small cut of vegetables and a fruit.

    no eating after 7pm !!

    do 250 sit-ups in the morning and 250 sit-ups before bed.

    Do leg squats against the wall 3 sets of 20 once every other day.

    Walk for 30 minutes twice a day or jog in the house for 30 minutes if the weather is bad out.

    Ride a treadmill for 20-30 minutes a day and  that should do it. Make sure you do this through out  the day not all at once.

    Try this for  3 weeks and see the difference only if you really want to loose weight.

  2. I'm doing the same thing but I'm up to 2miles. You should use a treadmill because you can count exactly how many calories you are burning.

    I use www.fitday.com and figure out exactly how many calories I am eating and burning.

    They have a spot for you to put in your measurements too.

    I'm measuring my body every other day - this way I can see exactly what I need to improve on.

    This is working great for me! I've already lost an inch off my waist in 1 week!

    Try it if you aren't getting results!

    oh and for the previous answer - you can't run unless you work up to it - so don't try running all at once.

    Plus if you do high impact cardio, you will just increase your stamina and muscle - low impact cardio is how you burn fat.

  3. Absolutely!!! Walking will definetly help you loose weight, it is one of the best fat burning exercises.

    It is best to walk in the morning, because your body has had plenty of time to rest and your muscles are somehwat rejuvinated and will respond the best in the morning.

    But also remember that exercise is only 20% of contribution to loosing weight.  the other 80% is your deit!!!

    Make sure you eat a good breakfast. Try not to eat fried food in the morning.  Eat some cereal or oatmeal with an apple or a banana.  Bananas are execellent source of pottasium, which is very beneficiary for muscle growth.

    Remember, muscles burn fat for energy!!!!

    And ALWAYS ALWAYS, remember to breath right and drink plenty of water, and get a good night's sleep.  CUT DOWN ON ALL SUGARY DRINKS!!! Sugar is the number one cause of fat in your body!!!

    Also, meditating for 10mins before going for your walk will do wonders for you, since a clear mind is best for stress relief.  And you will not see results if you have a lot of stress.

    Eventually walking will not be enough and you will be running.

  5. I'm sorry to say this, but just walking 1 mile every day isn't gonna help you much. It's much better than no exercise at all, and if you have a very healthy diet you would lose weight, but very slowly. Also it depends on how much weight you want to lose. If you're shooting for, say, 5 pounds, walking won't really help you. If you're overweight walking would definitely be a good way to start your weight loss, but you will have to start some more intensive exercise eventually.

    A 1 mile walk every morning  is good and  I'm not knocking it but you should try bumping it up to a 30 minute (around 2 miles) a day to acheive real results and keep doing it for the rest of your life if you want to live  longer!

  8. Watch what you eat, nothing with lots of carbs. Eat plenty of whole wheat & things with low calories. Of course getting one mile in the morning will help you lose weight. Just stick to the rutine and everything will fall into place & you will begin to see results. But be patient thats the most important thing while trying to lose weight!

  9. This is one of the best ways to start a good routine.  take the stairs whenever possible. be the one  to volunteer at work to deliver thing. Make yourself more active  during your day. little things add up. try cutting sugar and bread out of your diet to start. still  eat little amounts of bread but try to limit yourself to only 1 slice  of whole wheat. The problem I see is people try to crash diet or join a gym and go every day when before they where doing none of  it. Baby steps what you are trying to do is change your lifestyle.  too drastic and you will only  revert back to your old habits. try to limit fat intake. chips, soda, fast food, a;ll not good.  If you are eating that now try cutting back from say 5 times a week to 2.  also at the fast food restaurants order salads with light dressing, grilled not fried items, no mayo use honey mustard.   11. any form of excercise instead of sitting on your butt is better than nothing and will get things started

    as mentioned above you want to increase your mileage over time...take advantage of any opportunity to get in some extra excercise...
