  1. 25/60 = .416  this is the decimal equivilent of the time it takes him to walk home. Multiply .416 x 3.5 and you come up with 1.456km.

  2. find out how many feet in a mile

    then how many feet in a kilometer

    divide ft in a mile by ft in a kilometer

    multiply that answer by 3.5 to get mph

    .25hrs is 1/4 of an hour so divide the mph answer by 4 and there is the distance he travels without using the stupid metric system the  Edit: jerry p's answer is not it

  3. distance = rate * time

    d = r * t

    d = 0.25h * 3.5 km/h

    d = 0.875km
