Walking from Montceau-les-Mines to Collonge-la-Madeleine?

Does anyone know whether walking from Montceau-les-Mines to Collonge-la-Madeleine is possible without walking alongside major roads?

We plan on taking two days to make this journey, and were also wondering if any could recommend a town or village to pass through where we could camp or eat?

Any help appreciated.

  1. Yes you can walk along small roads.

Go to www.viamichelin.fr (or .com if you want it in English) and zoom in.

    1) From Montceau walk up Avenue du Général Lerclerc to Blanzy.

    2) Behind the Blanzy train station, take Route du Centre towards Torcy and D28 to Le Creusot.

    3) From Le Creusot, walk along D43 all the way to Collonge.

Contact the Le Creusot tourist office to ask if there is any campsite on a farm north of le Creusot (so that it would be half way as Le Creusot is closer to Montceau than Collonge).

Le Creusot is the only town on the way, everything else looks tiny and Collonge is a 60 inhabitant village so you better buy food and drinks while you are in le Creusot.

I am not familiar with that particular area but I am quite familiar with France's country roads in general. Those are smaller roads so they should be fine. As you probably already know, walk on the left side of the road so that you face upcoming traffic.

  2. i have no idea but try to send an email to the local tourist office, they should be able to answer you correctly, and in english !!
