Wall Mounting a T.V???

i'm getting a new tv its 42in and weighs 22kg the only wall it can go is plasterboard with wooden batons can i wall mount it without it ripping the wall down or what ways can i go around wall mounting it safely?

  1. i have saw this being done, you have to locate the studs which are usually 600mm apart , cut a piece of 1/2 inch thick wood about 800mm wide and 600mm tall, s***w this to the wall and attatch the bracket to the piece ot wood with a load of LONGISH, THICKISH screws (NOT NAILS), then mount the telly. and if your very clever you can put a socket and A.V point behind the tell so you cant see any wires. then the jobs a goodun. good luck


  2. Buy a stud detector at any DIY store. Locate the studwork (timber framing) in the wall and fix directly into these if you can. Otherwise fit a suitable batten across two studs and fix into this. Decorate the batten to match the wall and you won't notice it.
