Question:

Wall Unit A/C issues?

I have a wall unit A/C in my bedroom and lately when I turn it on it seems to be blowing out steam. At first I thought this was happening because I had taken a shower and it was a result of the steam from the bathroom hitting the cold air in the bedroom. But even without showers, it's still doing it. The steam/smoke has no smell, but what could be causing it? Is there something I can do to fix it without having to call my landlord?

  1. It could be something as simple as the air conditioner being old or over-used/over heated, or something difficult having to do with the actual unit itself. Your best bet would to be to go to a specialist at Sears or even Walmart and ask for someones opinion on the matter.

  2. It's the humid air being below the dewpoint temperature of the air coming off the coil and is harmless.

Fine water vapor and will do this sometimes when the room is extra humid.

    EDIT:

Kind of like what happens when you place a can of cold soda or beer on a table in the room. The can will sweat because it is below the dewpoint temperature of the air.
