  1. make your blanket hot pink! maybe black and pink pillows (maybe do lots of different shades form pale to hot pink to incorperate the walls without drawing to much attention) hang like three bright coloured paintings in a pattern!

    xx

  2. The furniture is very striking, so let it be the centerpiece of the room.

You will have to let the strong color come from the bedspread and pillows.  Go to Target, TJ Maxx, Marshalls, or somewhere like that for good modern designs and bright colors.  That is where you will get your hot pink, and once you have that, then build from there.

There's no need to be in a rush to put stuff on the walls, is there?  If it were my room, I would start carrying around a little packet of color swatches in my wallet -- the paint, the cover, the furniture, anything else, and then when you see the right thing, like at a swap meet, you can go for it.  I don't want you to feel rushed into bad decisions.  Better to build it up slowly.

In one way, your mom is right to go with the paler color.  You won't get tired of it so soon, and you can always change out pillows and things like that quite easily.

Do you sew?  You can make pillow covers very easily.

    Good luck -- nice project.

  3. Wow, that furniture is straight out of the 80s, isn't it?

  4. I would get hot pink bedding, which will attract attention away frim the walls. I would look a Pbteen (the sale section has lots of good stuff on your budget). You also could some wall decals (the pbteen ones come of) in a color you like,

    www.pbteen.com

Target may have some bedding you like. Maybe Bed Bath and Beyond.

  5. just an idea but why not cover the walls with curtains. at least the one you have to look at the most..or put a canopy or mosquito net around your bed. you can buy one pretty cheap. sheer curtains are pretty cheap try a yard sale. you can make your own canopy from a quilting hoop or wire  or pvc and curtains..then you don't have to look at the wall...get whatever color you like..HOT PINK

  6. Cocoa brown is a breat color to go with pink! it adds to the room so that you wont feel so icky about the pink

here is a couple of pics at target.com

TJ Maxx also has some blankets at good prices
