Question:

Wall colors and perception?

My kitchen is being repainted soon and I'm not sure what paint to put above the chair rail & below the chair rail. my woodwork is white, the cabinets are honey oak & ceramic tile is white with veins of beige & grey. I will be painting the walls a creamy beige and a celery-ish color, but I'm not sure which color should go above or below the chair rail. Will one way make the room look larger or smaller or whatever? Or will it look more formal or casual etc? I'm sure there is a specific way the human eye & brain will process the color scheme but I'm not sure what it is. Help....I'd like to paint in the next couple days! Thanks!

  1. I would try to match the colour of the cabinets or maybe a very light grey to match with veins in your tiles.

  2. chose one color that you like, and then find a lighter color. (both should be fairly light) put the darker one on the bottom and the lighter on the top. choose a big space to put a mirror to make the room feel bigger
