Wall eye, white pony allergies & sunburn?

Would it be kinder just to stable a pony most of the time, if its life is one long round of allergies & sunburn, borderline laminitus and other horses picking on it?

  1. Poor guy!!  Can he have his own turnout area where he can 'socialize' over or through the fence with others...but they can't abuse him?

I know they have light sheets to help with sunburn, and fly masks that actually cover the ears and muzzle too for sunburn.

If he can have his own area...get a grazing muzzle if needed.  If it's a dry area, which it soon will be if he's on it all the time, then laminitus won't be much of a problem.

Don't know what kind of allergies you are referring to.  Talk with your vet if there is something that can be done.

  2. I would try and section off an area of grazing, use a snuggly hood and rug to combat sweet itch/ sunburn ( plus factor 50+) If you manage the grass well the pony will be fine regarding laminitis.

Failing that turn him out at night , alone?
