Wallabies coach Robbie Deans says his side ready for Rugby World Cup
Wallabies coach, Robbie Deans, is convinced that his side could win the Rugby World Cup 2011, starting this week in New Zealand. Wallabies are currently placed at number 2 in the International Rugby Board rankings and have recently defeated the World number
1 All Blacks in the final of the Tri-Nations Cup. The Wallabies have got depth in their line ups and are strong contenders for this years’ crown. Robbie Deans informed the media on September 5th that his side is ready to take up the challenge.
the Wallabies have done reasonably well in the last few games and have alarmed other nations with their solid preparations. The Wallabies found themselves in hot water after loosing the Tri-Nations warm up clash against Samoa on July 17 but managed to get
back their rhythm very quickly. Furthermore, they stunned the critics by winning the Tri-Nations Cup 2011 after a decade.
Robbie Deans, who was exuberant with his teams’ performance in Tri-Nations Cup, is of the view that his side will be required to put in even more effort to lift the crown in RWC 2011. He added that his unit has got the ability to win the Webb Ellis Trophy
because of their experience and variety.
He further said that, “It's a new tournament and a new challenge. We will have to work twice as hard as we did against the Springboks and All Blacks earlier this year because they are going to be hungrier. We'll be doing what we can and focusing on what
we can control to ensure we?re there at the pointy end of the competition.”
The coach added that, “We understand it will be a challenge but we are up for that, in fact we are ready for it. I think their minds are in New Zealand already, so that's good.”
Wallabies are placed in Pool C along with Russia, Ireland and United States which is comparatively an average group. They will play their first match of the tournament against Ireland on September 17 in Auckland.
