Wallabies fly-half Quade Cooper ready to topple USA Eagles - Rugby World Cup
Quade Cooper, the first choice five-eight on the Wallabies squad, delivered an unimpressive performance against Ireland on September 17. However, he is in high spirits for Australia's clash of Rugby World Cup 2011 against the United States. The Wallabies
are meeting the USA Eagles in their third match of the RWC on September 23 in Wellington. Wallabies centre, Anthony Faingaa, dismissed the reports that Cooper has lost his confident after receiving a stunning defeat of 15-6 at the hands of Ireland.
Wallabies started off their RWC campaign against Italy with good play but faced their first major up set of the ongoing event against Ireland. Cooper, along with his other team-mates, failed to make an impression against a weaker side and has put a huge
question mark on their upcoming matches. It has been reported that Cooper is nervous after a poor show because he faced stern criticism after a rare failure.
However, Faingaa told the media that Cooper is not worried about his past performance and is looking forward to give his best against the United States. Cooper is one the most consistent players in the world and recently helped his Super Rugby side, Queensland
Reds, to their maiden championship victory with an outstanding output. He was actually the highest individual point scorer of the tournament.
Faingaa backed his team-mate and said that, “Not too much knocks Quade around. He's pretty confident at the best of times. Quade's been fine. For us it's just about moving forward. That game's gone past, now it's all about looking forward to the USA and
Russia.”
Will Genia, who will lead the Wallabies against Eagles, urged his players to erase the bad memories of the Irish defeat and should concentrate on the next fixtures. He added that, “The big thing for us is that we... work to simplify things in the decision-making,
to look to put pressure on them by maybe not playing so much, maybe playing more field position.”
Wallabies will take on United States on September 23 in Wellington.
