Wallabies motivated to get back their rhythm against Springboks - Rugby News
The Wallabies players are highly motivated to get the rhythm back in their up coming matches of the Tri-Nations Cup 2011. The side is left with two tests before the start of Rugby World Cup 2011, which kicks-off on September 9th. They received a huge defeat
by the All Blacks on August 6 which pointed out large holes in their defending lines. The Wallabies looked like amateurs against the Number 1 side in the world and were forced to eat humble pie last weekend. Will Genia, the Aussie scrum-half told the media
on August 10 that his side is motivated to get back their lost rhythm in their next game against the Springboks on Saturday, August 13.
The Wallabies are facing severe criticism from their fans after two humiliating defeats within one month. The Wallabies lost their first test of the season against a the much lower ranked side of Samoa by a great margin of 32-23 on July 17 and later on faced
a cracking defeat by their neighbours All Blacks by 30-14.
They provided too many chances to the All Blacks to add quick points to their total as their defence was leaking time and again in the match. Meanwhile, their forward packs were also struggling with the handling of the pill.
Will Genia blamed his poor defence as the reason for the humiliating defeat and said they need to work on their back lines to achieve better results in the remaining matches. He added that, “You don't want to go into the World Cup obviously having not won
many games against quality opposition. It would be nice obviously to have momentum going into the World Cup and it does go hand in hand with winning the Tri Nations. If we do well in this Tri Nations competition, go a long way towards winning it, that gives
us that momentum.”
Genia, talking about their last match against the All Blacks, said that, “We were very poor and the only way to erase that memory is to get back on the field and put in a performance that you are proud of.”
Wallabies will meet the Springboks in their third match of Tri-Nations on August 13 in Durban.
