Wallabies’ player Rob Horne will miss Welsh clash due to hamstring – Rugby News
Wallabies player, Rob Horne, has received a hamstring injury and will not be playing the single test match against Wales on December 3. Australian scrumhalf Will Genia told the media on December 2 that the outside centre has sustained a hamstring injury
and his participation in the forthcoming match was not sure after the incident. Wallabies are standing neck-to-neck with Rugby World Cup semi-finalist Wales on Saturday, at Millennium Stadium, Cardiff. The injury has occurred at a very crucial time for Wallabies
as they are already deprived of their regular fly-half, Quade Cooper.
The player has been given a time frame to prove his fitness to the coaching staff until Friday evening. If he fails to do so Anthony Fainga’a is expected to replace him at number 13. Meanwhile, the change will also allow Nick Phipps to join the party on
benches after an injury to Horne.
Rob Horne was given a starting role by the team management earlier, which did not look accomplishing at the moment. The 22-year old centre has represented his national side in six tests since he made the international debut in 2008. He played his first test
with the Wallabies back in 2008 but was not included in Wallabies RWC squad. He also plays for New South Wales in Super Rugby format and has played 30 games for the derby.
Talking about his injury the Wallabies, scrumhalf, Will Genia told the journalists that Horne was a little stiff at training and is likely to be skipped from upcoming match. He added that, “He's just pulled up a little bit stiff at training today and he
is in doubt. They've just got to assess him tomorrow at the captain's run and see how he's going. Hopefully he pulls up ok but if he doesn't Anthony Fainga'a is on standby."
While talking about the other players the scrumhalf said that, “Berrick's good to go and he's recovered very, very well and he's trained very well so he'll be good to take his place in the side. He did very, very well against the Barbarians, it's going to
be a step up though.”
Wallabies and Wales will meet on December 3 in Cardiff.
