Wallabies still waiting for Kurtley Beale’s availability during semifinal game against All Blacks – Rugby News
2011 Tri Nations’ champions, Wallabies, are still waiting on the availability of their talented backs players, Kurtley Beale for their upcoming 2011 Rugby World Cup’s (RWC) semi-final encounter
against the All Blacks. Beale sustained an injury during their quarterfinal encounter against the Springboks.
Wallabies defeated the former world champions, Springboks, to put an end to their title defence campaign with an 11 – 9 victory over them, at Westpac Stadium, Wellington on Sunday, October
9. Beale sustained a hamstring injury during the match and left the field during the 74th minute of the game.
Later, Beale underwent a detailed diagnostic tests and scans, which revealed a mild hamstring strain. Providing the updates, on his injury on Tuesday, October 11, Wallabies official spokesperson
said, “It's touch and go and Kurtley hasn't been ruled in or out and our team's medical staff is doing everything they can to get him to the starting line.”
Beale absence from Wallabies match day squad and starting xv will be a major blow for the Wallabies as they prepare to take on the World Number 1 All Blacks in the Rugby Union’s most prestigious
tournament’s semi-final. Additionally, All Blacks will be playing at home and more particularly at Eden Park, where Australia last finished on the winning side, approximately a quarter of the century ago.
Wallabies centre Adam Ashley-Cooper has termed potential absence from their upcoming game as a major problem for the team. He said, “He'll be a massive loss for us because Kurtley provides
so much to the team, not only in attack but just in the mood and excitement of the group.”
Ashley-Cooper has expressed his hope for Beale to recover from his hamstring injury. He added that hamstring injuries are very tricky and it is difficult to be certain of how long they will
take to recover. He added that in case of his absence he has no issues of playing at the fullback position for the Wallabies.
Wallabies' star half backs player, scrum half Will Genia has expressed his confidence that the Wallabies have good enough players in their squad that can come in as a replacement of Beale,
if he fails to recover on time. He acknowledged the Beale’s skills but at the same time confirmed that the backs line have enough versatile players, which can perform the role. He added, “It would be a big blow, but you'd have to deal with it. It's not something
you can dwell on and worry about."
2011 RWC hosts, All Blacks will host their Trans-Tasman rivals Wallabies on Sunday, October 16 at Eden Park, Auckland. All Blacks are yet to concede a game in the tournament.
