Walleye Fishnig tips?

Im going Washington State to visit family. I wanted to try walleye fishing while I was down there. I will be in the moses lake area, Just want to know what bait I should use and where to find some good spots. Let me know any other good walleye tips you might have?

get on ur boat (make it a fast boat really fast)

im pretty sure you dont want complex tips such as where are the fishes at  a certain time... theyre always in the islands of the lake...

For bait

Fish gut = good for night time becuase of the smell

                down side u can only use it once. the smell goes away..

Night crawlers = u can stack 3 crawlers in ur hook

                      

10 inch power worm = if u drift ur boat in a hot spot (its a winner)

use two rods

1st = classic sit down and wait

2nd = cast and reel to keep u busy (u can watch it bite the hook)

first off dont listen to sage's answer.  Alright anyway yea you probably know walleye are a nocturnal fish like they dont really come up and feed unless its night time.  So first off to catch a walleye during the day you want to be anywhere from the high teens to 20 even 30 feet of water depending where people have caught them.  You can either jig with them with a jip tipped with a worm or troll a bottom bouncer that has either a worm harness or a crank bait on it.  Another way you can try is at night once its dark and like 11 12 at night you can cast for walleye using an x rap, a yozuri, anything like that and try catching them.  Good luck man

for walleye i go fishing in the evening and usually its trolling with a daredevil or a deep runner plug

I havent been there for a while, but I had my best walleye fishing on Potholes, rather than Moses lake.  My best producer was a handtied night crawler harness with 2 hooks and floats with a number 4 Indiana blade, attached to a bottom walker weight.  I used mostly glow in the dark, and Chartrues.  Once in awhile the best numbers colors were hammered copper blade with hot red beads.  There is a large island in Potholes, and an underwater ridge that runs off the east side for several hundred yards going  south southeast

the ridge tops out around 13 -16 foot with 25 -30 foot on each side.

I have taken several excess of 25 inches off it, with the larges at 31 inches.

Wow, do I wish I was back there.

Use 1/4 ounce as much as possible. If you have a problem finding the bottom you can move up to 3/8 ounce till you get used to finding the bottom.

These jigs have no action of their own, so that is up to the angler, short hops seem to work best but do not be afraid to experiment. Try to maintain contact with the bottom at all times, but try not to bounce on slack line. This can cause you to get snagged more often.

  Jigs are great for catch and release, most of the time the walleye will be hooked in the top lip. Unhooking is fast and easy for you and the fish.

Tip jigs with either a minnow or a leech. You can use leeches but at times minnows will work best. You can usually carry both so you can test which is working best that day or for the area you are fishing.

  Well now put this all together and lets catch those walleyes. Off the edge of this grassy island or sunken island as I call it there is a drop off and the walleye hold to this at different depths at different times of the day. Deeper during the heat of the day and closer in the evening.

  Walleye do not like bright light and most anglers think that the best time for fishing walleye is early morning or in the evening and even after dark. But on any walleye lake in the heat of summer you have an algae growth that clouds the water somewhat and makes for great fishing even in the heat of the day. As simple as this walleye fishing tip seems, remember it works and just experiment and you will succeed.
