Walmart NW Arkansas Championship 2012: A Star Studded Event
Walmart NW Arkansas Championship 2012 has been announced. The fans will be able to see many top players in action at Pinnacle Country Club, located in Rogers, Arkansas.
Walmart NW Arkansas Championship Presented by Proctor & Gamble is fast becoming a major event on LPGA calendar. Because of its increasing importance, many top ranking players on LPGA will be in action in the event.
The course comprises of 54 holes and will be attended by 144 players from around the world. The event is also significant as it leads to the U.S. Women's Open, scheduled for the following week.
Given the position of the event on the LPGA calendar, Walmart NW Arkansas Championship will most likely be attended by all major players of LPGA. At least five top players have announced their playing availability.
The Tournament Director David Shoemaker is very pleased with the number of big names confirming their participation in the event.
He said, “Anytime you can have major winners commit to your field it's a great compliment to the event”.
Shoemaker also commented on the status of the tournament in the LPGA event calendar. He added, “It speaks to the level of how much the players and the LPGA Tour enjoy the Northwest Arkansas community and how well-received they are by the fans".
Players like Cristie Kerr, Anna Nordqvist, Suzann Pettersen, Yani Tseng are set to play in the tournament. Another surprise entry is Laura Davies from England.
Stacy Lewis, Paula Creamer, Inbee Park and Ai Miyazato will also be attending the event. These players add tough competition to any event and this tournament is no exception. They are also crowd pullers and the management expects a large number of spectators
every day.
Many experts believe that Walmart NW Arkansas Championship will offer great entertainment for the fans all over the world.
The competition is expected to be extremely fierce as many champions will showcase their talent against upcoming players.
Yani Tseng is expected to face tough resistance from top golfers this time. She has bagged the trophy twice in 2010 and 2011. Laura Davis is also a two time LPGA title winner who has set her eyes on the prize.
Suzann Pettersen from Norway and Anna Nordqvist of Sweden are also serious threats and are expected to make it to the final rounds. Each of these players has a LPGA title to their name.
NW Arkansas Championship has been a major attraction since 2007. The 2007 event was declared unofficial due to its premature termination because of bad weather.
The subsequent events were a great success and firmly established the tournament as a must have on LPGA tour season.
