Walmart NW Arkansas Championship 2012: Stacy Lewis and Yani Tseng gear up for tough battle
The current world number two, Stacy Lewis, said that she is firm to come face to face against her archrival, Yani Tseng, at the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship 2012.
Speaking to the media a day before the prestigious tournament set to be staged at Pinnacle Country Club, Rogers, from June 29 to July 1, Lewis said that she knows that beating the current world number one will
be an uphill task, but she is determined to do her best.
Sharing her aims with her fans, the 27-year-old star said that she seeks to grab the top spot in Women’s World Golf Rankings. She admitted that playing against Tseng is not easy, but she is not resting on her
laurels.
The rising golfer went on to say that seizing the second spot in world rankings is a big achievement, but there is no room for complacency. She added that she will enter the course with a solid game plan this
week.
''I'm ready to take her on,'' Lewis said. ''I want to be No. 1 in the world. I know I'm two, but I'm not happy with that”.
On the other hand, Tseng also appear to be in high spirits, as she realises that winning the title is the only way to further consolidate her number one position, keeping rivals from toppling her.
“I put too much pressure on myself,'' Tseng said. ''I'm too hard on myself, but because everyone expects you to win every week. It's really hard to win every week, so now I want to smile more on the golf course,
enjoy more on (the) golf course. I know if I'm enjoying the course then people are going to enjoy watching me''.
With massive media coverage and attention, Lewis appears to have eclipsed Tseng in terms of popularity, however, it remains to be seen how the American prodigy is going to fare against rivals on the course.
According to analysts, the match is expected to turn into a pitch battle among LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) stars, as both Lewis and Tseng are under scrutiny these days.
With Tseng seeking to maintain her upper hand in women’s golf and Lewis wanting to become the world number one, the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship is likely to attract a massive crowd this year.
