Walmart NW Arkansas Championship 2012: Stacy Lewis finishes outside top 10
American Stacy Lewis, who was expected to do her best at the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship 2012, could not finish in the top 10, as she fired an overall 209 to finish tied for the 19th position
on the leaderboard.
Lewis was among the big names in the field, but appeared to be in trouble when it came to shooting calculated putts on some holes.
The tournament was played at the prestigious Pinnacle Country Club, Rogers, with the appearance of the defending champion Yani Tseng.
Although most of the top-ranked players fought hard to maintain their ascendency, lesser-known players overshadowed everything by performing well.
Proud of her unmatched putting skills and vast experience, Lewis kicked off the tournament in an amazing style and tried to do her best. She posted a 70 in the opening round, but was surprised by good performances
from underdogs.
Rookie Veronica Felibert, who finished tied for the fourth position in the tournament, stunned her fans on the opening day after she grabbed a lead by registering a 65 on the leaderboard.
Analysts said that finishing outside the top 10 has definitely upset big names like Yani Tseng and Lewis, but lesser-known contenders were extremely hard to beat.
Lewis looked confident in the last round, as she avoided shooting bogeys. She parred the first six holes and drained a birdie on the par-5 7th hole. She then parred the next hole and cheered the
spectators once again when she reeled off another birdie on the 9th hole.
However, the American star could not maintain her momentum on the back nine and ended up bogeying two holes. Although upset after messing up her score, she attempted to regain her composure by recording a birdie
on the last hole of the final round.
Speaking at the end of the event, the LPGA giant said that she faltered on the back nine in the final round, but birdying the 18th hole was amazing.
“It's always nice to go out on a positive note and make a birdie.  I struggled all week, I just didn't really get anything going,” Lewis said. “I'll make a couple birdies and then I'll make a bad swing and
make bogeys.  It was a rough week for me, I didn't play my best, just trying to work on a few things and get ready for next week”.
