Does anyone's walmart have the registers that the cashiers use that are touchscreen color models and have color screens facing the customer showing what is being scanned? For anyone that works at walmart that has used one of these registers, describe it to me, plz, are they easy to use, what makes it so much easier than the old versions that were just a keyboard and the green little screen. Thanks. btw, im a cashier at walmart but we still have the older versions.

  1. Ive seen them in Calgary, (I dont work at Walmart), but they are about 1 1/2 inches thick, grey and the cachier seems like the just have to swipe and press a button for quantity or something. Personally, I would rather be using a keyboard, maybe with a better user interface, but I am always better off when I can touch something for a reaction. Oh and they also have the customer self checkouts here with those things, it takes longer to go through those with one not so technical person infront than it does for 20 in a normal line.

  2. Wal-Mart remodels its stores every 5 to 7 years based on various reasons including what technology they are using currently.

The new ones are definitely better.  They are easier to use, take up less room, and harder to make a mistake with than the old ones.

Ask your manager when they are due for a remodel.  If he/she knows, that's when you can expect to get the new ones.

Odds are you will not have to wait very long.

By the way, they also do away with the self checkouts -- associates call them the stealing counters.  The next remodel will eliminate them.  They will become "speedy" checkouts.

  3. I've never worked at WalMart before, but I have worked at restaurants. I find the touch screens are a lot easier to use. I like those a lot better. It's a lot faster as well in my opinion.
