  1. I think they are great

  2. Removing the industry and replacing it with sales jobs. We are a country that get's many of our products from other nations that abuse their workers with horrible pay and long hours. Wal Mart sells this c**p.

This is a consumer nation, not industrial, and now you know why we are outsourcing industrial jobs.

  3. I like them it's easy to shoplift inside

  4. There's a walmart in my backyard where my pool used to be...At this stage, I think its getting beyond ridiculous. Something has to happen. What next? A walmart in my toilet??

  5. How so?

    They are a middleman system.

they buy cheap and sell cheap. due to volume.

  6. Wal-mart isn't destroying the world - it's just doing what corporations are supposed to do and responding to demand from the market.

But maybe we are. We create the demand for goods at cheaper prices than we'd be willing to make them for, and then our politicians oppress other countries to compel them to carry on giving us cheap fuel and making cheap goods.

Every individual is partly responsible for the way the world works. By not voting for fair policies and not using our spending power to support fairtrade groups, we destroy the world.

It's easier to blame big names like Wal-mart but that isn't going to help us control the energy crisis or solve major global issues. We all need to start taking responsibility for our own chocies and working together.

  7. I would put Halibutron and Cheney far above Wal-mart on the list of evil corporations.

  8. Someone watched  a Wal-Mart Documentary last night.

  9. I wouldnt say destroying as much as changing.  We all enjoy the idea of 'Mom and Pop' stores around America.  It brings us to a time where we think things werent just about making a profit.  However, Walmart is the megaconglamorate of everything you need.  Yes, it is nice to have all that stuff there in one location and they have cheaper prices because they buy in bulk and distribute likewise.  In its wake, crushing every other competitor around the block.  It is almost a metaphor for the U.S. in the international system against other states.

However, Walmart does have policies that I do not agree with.  Does anyone remember Rubbermaid?  That company that sold the rubber containers that would never break and used to be everywhere?  Not anymore.  A few years ago Walmart met with their executives and told them, literally, to lower their own prices.  Rubbermaid said they couldnt because of production costs and that they wouldnt be able to make any sort of profit.  Walmart refused to sell Rubbermaid at the cost they were asking to, and removed them from their shelves.  Two years later, the company only has about 10% of its original staff size and is probably going to go into bankruptcy.

Also, Walmart is not always good for the average consumer.  Although they say they bring low prices everyday, you may want to do some comparison shopping.  A large portion of their produce does not always have the lowest prices as Walmart never has sales.  Also, Walmart is extremely efficient.  They cut costs where-ever possible in order to save money.  This also means they higher the minimum number of people necessary to keep the store going.  Spread that across America, it means less people are working and fewer jobs are available, from clerks to managers, pharmacists, technicians, truck drivers, anything along the supply chain.  And, their wages are also minimal as well.  Walmart has good and bad things about it.  Low prices we love, bad policies we hate.  You should also check out the documentary on Walmart, I think its called Walmart, Destroying America.  It's pretty good too.

  10. I think that is a bit extreme. XD

  11. It is a symptom of a more pervasive disease. Globlization.
