Walter Gargano happy to stay at Napoli but not ruling out a summer move: Serie A news
The agent of Napoli midfielder, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Walter-Gargano-c36598, admits that his client wants to remain at Stadio San Paolo but has not ruled out a summer move away from the club.
The Uruguayan international is ready to fight for his place and the agent believes that his client is not bogged down by the new arrivals at the club. The 27-year-old is expected to drop to the bench after the Azzurri signed former
Udinese midfielder, Gokhan Inler, in the transfer window.
Gargano was one of the most consistent performers for Walter Mazzarri’s side in the 2010/11 campaign and helped them to finish third in the Serie A table. The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Danubio-c38898 star has attracted interest from several Italian teams
including Genoa and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lazio-c39775 but none of them have come up with a concrete offer as yet.
The agent admitted that there are many chances that his client will remain at http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Napoli-c40003 but anything can happen by the time the transfer window shuts.
Talking to the reporters Gargano said, “There is a 90 per cent chance that he will remain at Napoli. And if he does stay then he will be happy to. Napoli have four midfielders for two roles and Gargano is one of this quartet. Their
midfield is of the highest quality.”
“The transfer market is still open until August 31, but I really do think that he will be staying with the Azzurri.”
The agent added that his client is looking forward to play in the UEFA Champions League with Napoli and has set his sights on winning the league next season. Competition for the midfield places will be very tight at the Naples
club, as they have also signed former Fiorentina and Parma midfielders, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Marco-Donadel-c23690 and Blerim Dzemaili in the summer.
Gargano joined Napoli from Danubio in 2007 and has made 102 appearances for the Italian outfit thus far. Last Season was his best in Napoli shirt, as he made 46 appearances in all competitions and was really solid in the holding
midfield role.
