The Partenopei chief insists that although their qualification fate depends on the other teams, the Azzurri must focus on crushing Siena with all their might.
Walter Mazzarri continues to hope against hope, that his team can still clinch the final UEFA Champions League qualification spot in Serie A, and insists that Napoli will go against Siena with full force.
The Partenopei were placed third in the league, and looked favourites to take the ticket to European tournament, but the upset defeat at the hands of Bologna saw the Azzurri drop to fifth spot in standings.
The Naples outfit are currently three points behind the third-placed Udinese, and the Zebrette need just one-point from their next game against Catania to rout the Azzurri's remaining hopes.
Mazzarri stated that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Napoli-c40003 are no longer in a position to be the architects of their own fate, and insisted that their future is tied to the results of the other teams around them.
The former Sampdoria manager urged his side to focus all their energies on their last match of the league against Siena, and insisted that the Azzurri will aim for a crushing victory over the opposition.
The Partenopei boss insisted that the best approach for the team is to do the best they can, and then hope for the best.
While talking to the press, the 50-year-old said:
“Now it doesn’t only depend on us and we are tied to the results of the other teams. We have to beat Siena with all of our might and are working hard on that. After that, we can only hope.”
Mazzarri insisted that Catania have proved themselves to be a stout opposition in the league, and hoped that the Elephants will launch an upset against the Zebras, and allow them a final shot at the crucial third spot.
The Azzurri coach insisted that things have been uncertain in the league season, but stated that the Partenopei must look to finish the season on a high.
“I am convinced Catania will play a great game against Udinese, just as Bologna did with us. This campaign is truly uncertain and right now we just have to end on a high.”
Napoli enjoy a better goal difference than Udinese, and require http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lazio-c39775 and Udinese to slip-up in their respective games, along their win over Siena, to clinch the third spot in the league.
