The Azzurri triumphed 6-3 against Cagliari in round 27 game of the season at Stadio San Paolo on Friday, March 9. Despite witnessing an attacking feast from his side, Mazzarri is more concerned with the defensive fatalities of
the Partenopei.
Napoli will play Chelsea in second-leg of the last 16 round of UEFA Champions League at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday, March 14. The Naples based side won 3-1 in the first-leg at Stadio San Paolo, but Mazzarri has warned his team
against complacency ahead of their visit to London.
The 50-year-old is pleased with the result against Cagliari, but has lamented the two late goals conceded by his side. The former Sampdoria boss believes that his team cannot afford to be complacent and they need to focus for the
full 90 minutes.
Mazzarri insisted that he is not worried to face the Blues, but wants his team to be more clinical in their defending.
While talking to the reporters, Mazzarri said:
“I am happy with the way we stepped on to the field, as we were facing a motivated team. I got angry because, even if the result was safe, we shouldn’t have conceded the last two goals. We cannot relax even for a second, because
that way we concede. We’ve got to reflect on that.”
“I am not worried about Chelsea, but the fact is we cannot afford similar defensive errors against Chelsea. I’m really working on the psychological aspect, which we saw with Milan was an issue against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429. We must not start
out timid, we must not think about our advantage.”
The tactician went onto praise in-form striker, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ezequiel-Lavezzi-c13073, for his impressive recent form. The Argentine international has scored six goals in his last five matches for Napoli, and has played a huge role in the club’s recent
success.
