The Partenopei boss not happy with victories against Cesena and Palermo, and wants the spirit of 6-1 win over Genoa...
Napoli manager, Walter Mazzarri, has urged his team to continue the good-work ahead of their game against Bologna.
The Partenopei side will host Stefano Pioli’s men in the matchday 18 encounter of the 2011/12 Serie A on Monday, January 16, 2012. Napoli come into this game on the back of two successive league wins, and Mazzarri has urged his
men to continue playing as they did against Genoa before Christmas.
Napoli thrashed the Marassi club by 6-1 at the Stadio San Paolo in their last game of 2011. The tactician is not satisfied with his team’s performances in their last two matches despite being on the winning side. The 50-year-old
is confident that the team will come out with only win in their minds.
While talking to the reporters, Mazzarri said,
“I want to see the kind of aggressive http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Napoli-c40003 that started the game against Genoa before Christmas. I didn’t like the performances against Palermo or Cesena, despite the fact we won both. I talked it over with the lads and am confident
about tomorrow.”
Despite Bologna’s struggles in the ongoing campaign, the former Sampdoria boss is predicting a tough game. He admitted that his side has been inconsistent of late, but when they play at their full potential, they can beat any team
in the world.
“We realise it is a difficult match, but will try to do well. When we play at 100 per cent, we can beat anyone. It just depends on us.”
When asked about his contract situation at the club, Mazzarri is still unsure over an extension, and wants to focus on his team’s performance only.
“I have a contract until 2013 and intend to respect it. At this moment my only focus is on the next game. If the club wants to extend my deal, then we can talk about it in the opportune circumstances.”
The manager is tied at Stadio San Paolo until 2013, and it is believed that the Azzurri are looking to extend the deal by one more year.
