The Catalan giants face a top club from German Bundesliga, Serie A or any other top league in a one-off game every year to continue the tradition of the competition. The Spanish Champions will host Napoli in this year’s edition
of the competition on Monday, August 22, 2011.
The Naples based side had a tremendous 2010/11 season in the Serie A and finished third in the league table to book a place in the upcoming edition of the Champions League. Mazzarri believes that the game will provide his side
with great help before the Champions League because they will know where they stand in comparison to the best team in the world.
The tactician is honoured to play in this year’s edition and believes everyone involved with Napoli, including fans, players and staff are all excited with the opportunity. The 49-year-old added that playing against the European
Champions tells how much Napoli have progressed in the past few years and he cannot wait to begin the game.
