The Partenopei boss is bemoaning the luck for his side as they slump to a defeat in the first-leg of the Italian Cup.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Napoli-c40003’s poor run of form continues, as they suffered a 2-1 defeat at the hands of A.C Siena in first of the two-legged semi-final of Coppa Italia at Stadio Artemio Franchi on Thursday, February 9.

Walter Mazzarri is astonished with the poor finishing of his team throughout the season. He believes that his side created a plethora of chances in the first-half, but lacked the finishing instincts. The manager is ruing his team’s luck and believes that despite playing some quality football, their finishing has cost them a lot of points this season.
While talking to the reporters, Walter Mazzarri said,
“In the first half we created three or four scoring opportunities, but unfortunately this season we waste so many chances. It’s really not going our way. At our first mistake, we conceded a goal. My Napoli played well up to the end and I could not have asked for more from my lads. In terms of performance, I’d say we deserved to win it.”
The 50-year-old believes that the score-line might say otherwise, but his team’s performances impressed him a lot, and they deserved to win the match.
Mazzarri is anticipating a strong backlash from his team in the second-leg of the tie, and is confident that they will improve on their displays. He also believes that the hectic fixture schedule has had its negative effect on the performances of his players.
“The second leg will have to be played with legs and brain, as qualification for the Final is still open. We hope some incidents start to go in our favour."
The return leg of the semi-final will be played at Stadio San Paolo on March 20, 2012. The last time Napoli won the competition was back in the 1986/87 season when they defeated Atalanta in the final. The Azzurri desperately want atleast one piece of silverware in the 2011/12 season.
