The Partenopei head coach was quizzed whether an era had indeed come to an end at the Naples outfit; however he rebuked any such
claims, giving his reasons.
The Azzurri have had a meteoric rise in the past seven years. They were languishing in the Serie C of the Italian football in 2005. The Partenopei
secured promotion to the Serie B in 2006 and won promotion to the Serie A in 2007. The architect behind Napoli’s rise to the top was Edy Reja, and he guided the Naples based outfit to the Serie A after a seven year gap.

Since then, Aurelio De Laurentiis, Napoli President, has made his team into a recognised force in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Italy-c2926, as they secured third place in last year’s
Serie A.
In this year’s edition of the UEFA Champions League, Napoli turned out to be one of the most enterprising teams of Europe, and gave a good account
of the club in the competition. Their concentration in Europe coincided with the drop in concentration in the Serie A. This has led to an extremely inconsistent season for the Partenopei, and they have failed to maintain a high tempo throughout the season.

However, despite the criticisms levied at Napoli, they are in the final of the Coppa Italia as well. Reporters questioned the current Azzurri
head coach on the fortunes of Napoli and whether this was the end to an era for the club, to which Mazzarri replied:
“I don’t know what that can mean. I always say the same things and nobody listens to me. It is an ugly defeat, but these lads have given their
all for three years and it can happen to go through a period of fatigue after reaching the
Coppa Italia Final and a great Champions League run. The process of growth comes through this too.”
Mazzarri conceded that the San Paolo outfit were not at the same level as the likes of Juventus and AC Milan, but mentioned that it was a gradual
process and foresight needed to be applied in such cases. He further remarked:
“We are in the
Europa League for next season. If we invest in youth then we have to give them time, as we can’t get everything straight away like Milan and
Juventus. We are on track for what we set out to do in the summer.”
