The former head coach of Cagliari has gone on to comment on the chances of his outfit challenging for the Scudetto and remarked that such talks should end.
All throughout the course of the summers and the opening fixtures of the Serie A, Napoli have been touted as the closest competition and the biggest threat to the Serie A crown that Juventus currently hold. They had been claimed to have the squad and the
depth in experience that was going to take the Turin outfit down, and the players revelled in the hype as well, with many players including Marek Hamsik stating that they are the anti-Juve.
Despite claims by several players, current and former, Mazzarri seems to feel that it has been a big concoction of the media that has led to the hype of the situation. Each and every acquisition was touted as being decisive to the progress of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Napoli-c40003 on to
the next stage, that of competing domestically and in Europe with the same fervour and vigour that has been expected of the top teams in Europe.
However, Mazzarri has condemned all the hype surrounding Napoli and has stated that there was much hullabaloo over nothing concrete. He went on to remark that Juve are doing something extremely special and the Vesuviani outfit cannot hope of competing with
the Turin giants as they have been exceptional throughout the one and a half seasons under the guidance of Antonio Conte.
He did remark that Napoli would be targeting the second place and stated that they were on a par with the clubs fighting for the same position. This includes the likes of Fiorentina, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lazio-c39775. He was quoted to have said:
“The whole ‘Anti-Juventus’ thing is a slogan the media thought up and I’m sick of it. Juventus are doing something extraordinary and I’ve said since the summer that we have to grow. We’re all on a par now for second place and will see how the season ends,
as I don’t see anyone else right now who can compete with Juve. Maybe things will change, but it’s tough when they’re playing like that. We should focus on other objectives.”
Mazzarri would be hoping this speech reflects in his players being humbled and playing to their strengths.
