The Azzurri boss uncertain over his future at Stadio San Paolo but wants to remain with the club; hoping to claim the final UEFA Champions League spot
Walter Mazzarri is still coy over his Napoli future despite signing an extension to his contract recently.
The Partenopei boss recently signed a new contract, but Napoli’s recent run of poor form has made him ponder over his future with the club. Recent reports in the Italian media have linked Catania boss, Vincenzo Montella, with a
coaching role at Stadio San Paolo.
Napoli have won only one of their last five league matches, and are under serious threat of finishing amongst the top-three. Their league position has left the manager’s http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Job-c18684 under serious threat, despite their impressive UEFA Champions
League debut. Apart from reaching the quarter-finals of Champions League, the Azzurri are also in the final of Coppa Italia.
Mazzarri insists that he wants to stay on with the Vesuviani, but it all depends on the owners of the club.
While talking to the reporters, Mazzarri insisted:
“Everything will be assessed at the end of the season because what happens in the future depends on what happens in the campaign before. I want to stay and respect my contract because I have a good relationship with this squad.
But, no matter what my contract says, we’ll have to wait until the end of term.”
The manager also commented on his team’s chances of claiming the final Champions League spot for the next season, and believes that they should take advantage of the poor form of their rivals.
“The other teams battling for third don’t seem in great shape. We’ll have to give it our all and see where we finish up. Lazio boss Edy Reja says that we are favourites for third. I don’t really want to comment, but I don’t understand
why he believes that…”
