The Azzurri manager reflects on a great 2011, and hails UEFA Champions league qualification over Manchester City as the best moment of year
Napoli manager, Walter Mazzarri is dreaming to become the ‘Sir http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alex-c4752 Ferguson’ of Napoli, and wants to serve the club for many more years.
The tactician has expressed his admiration for the Manchester United manager for his longevity in the role, and wants to follow in his footsteps. Ferguson is in the 26th year of his Manchester United career, and is one
of the longest serving manager’s in the game.
The 69-year-old Scot has helped United to win 37 major trophies during his time at the club, and has undoubtedly been one of the most successful manager’s in the game.
Mazzarri took over as the Partenopei side’s manager in 2009, and has had a wonderful time with the club thus far. A team which was playing in the Serie C few years back, finished 3rd in the Serie A last season, and is
playing in the UEFA Champions League.
When asked about his future at the Stadio San Paolo, Mazzarri admitted that he has a contract until 2013 and he sees no reason to leave the Azzurri.
“My future? I have a contract with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Napoli-c40003 until 2013 and I intend to respect it. If there are clear ideas then I could become the Ferguson of Napoli.”
The 50-year-old is extremely happy with the development the team has made in a very short period of time, and believes that the year 2011 will be landmark year in the club’s history. The former Sampdoria boss admitted that the
best moment of the year for him was his team’s qualification into the last 16 round of the UEFA Champions League.
“2011 was a very important year for us, a year of growth and satisfaction. We are proud of what we have done and we want to continue on this road. The best moment of the year was definitely the victory over Manchester City. If
someone had told me that we’d qualify for the second round I’d have said they were a fool. However, we have done it even as it was a real undertaking.”
Napoli are currently placed 6th in the league table, and are 10 points behind leaders, A.C Milan.
